Tieman Creek Cattle Crossing Project
In August the Hood River SWCD partnered with the Confederated Tribes of the Warms Springs (CTWS), Beam, Couch & Level Excavating Inc., Bryant Pipe and Supply, J. Arlie Bryant and a local landowner to restore a small reach of Tieman Creek in Mt. Hood. Cattle were fenced out of most of the reach and a hardened crossing was created for watering and access to the other side of the stream. CTWS and SWCD staff also recontoured and planted the stream banks in an area that had been severely degraded by the livestock. Thanks to the support of the project partners, this project resulted in a protected stream reach and crossing for the landowner and his livestock.
